BT Media and Broadcast

Meet the team

ISABEL TALENS
Portfolio Director

Isabel Talens

Isabel originally joined BT Media & Broadcast in 1997, and worked in a number of high-profile roles before assuming her new position in June 2006.

Responsible for identifying products and services that will deliver tangible benefits for the customer, Isabel’s focus is firmly on understanding the market.  She works to ensure BT Media & Broadcast understands customers’ needs and how to transform their services.

With a strong background in product management, Isabel has a track record of successful, noteworthy projects.  These include the deployment, in 2002, of a major new system in London that enabled the simple transfer of video amongst the media community, now universally used by the industry.

On the challenge:
“Media and broadcast companies have been lumbered with inefficient processes for a long time.  We have the right technology and expertise to be the glue they need to draw those processes together; make them sleeker.”

On the future:
“We will have seen a revolution, led by consumers. The industry will be able to access, share and use content more flexibly, as consumers demand.  No longer will they be prevented from doing what their business requires by not being able to access content.”

On standing still:
“I will always challenge the status quo. I like to think I can always see how something can be done better, and map how to get there.”

Prior to her current role, Isabel had held a dazzling array of influential positions across BT Media & Broadcast.  As Head of Global Terrestrial Services, she implemented major product portfolio consolidation plans, looking at how the Media and Broadcast offering could integrate with BT’s wider 21st Century Network vision. This followed a year as Senior Business Manager for UK & International Terrestrial TV, where Isabel oversaw the roll-out of a pioneering international video exchange.

Before joining BT in 1997, she worked for Altran Group in Paris and Madrid, in business development and change management roles.

Isabel is a keen photographer, specialising in portraits and landscapes. She is also fascinated by architecture and interior design and her dream project would be to renovate a derelict, four-storey Victorian mansion.
